This film cinematography is very much of similar quality that I couldn't help making visual comparisons. Visually, it's a very beautiful film to watch. But, the screenplay was seriously lacking a good story. While the Revenant is a story about survival against the odds, Bajo la piel de lobo never really establishes a core theme. The story just seemed pointless. Had the second wife stayed with him and made a life with this mountain man, then we could establish the theme is about redemption, forgiveness, acceptance and being misunderstood.
But because she doesn't, the film just falls off a sharp cliff into nowhere. It's a shame because cinematography is masterful, but the screenplay makes it spiral down to earth. I give it a 6 out of 10 because of the great camera work. If I disregarded the cinematography, I might have given it a 2 or 3 out of Explore popular and recently added TV series available to stream now with Prime Video. Start your free trial. Too many inconsistencies spoiled the film for me. A disappointment. More From Metacritic.

It all worked together to make for a very enjoyable reading and leave me wanting to read more about the world of shape-shifters, werewolves, and vampires, and the mystical aspects of native American history. Jun 29, Victoria Carlson-Casaregola rated it it was amazing. Paranormal is not usually NOT my preferred area of reading.
Vampires and werewolves--I left that kind of stuff behind with the Creature Feature B movies of my distant youth. In life and in fiction, I usually find Real Life scary enough. But I love good thrillers, which for me means well developed characters, interesting settings that are filled with life and not just death and violence, as well as fast-paced plotting with surprises and depth of experience. About a year ago, one of my favorite au Paranormal is not usually NOT my preferred area of reading.
About a year ago, one of my favorite authors in any genre, crime fiction writer S. Rozan published a new novel she'd co-written with Professor Carlos Dews, under the pseudonym Sam Cabot. So that publishing event gave me something to stretch with as a reader, a literary walk on the wild side-- and I am glad I did.
That book is Blood of the Lamb, which is just out in paperback.source url
Netflix's 'The Skin of the Wolf,' Shows Caveman's Journey Into Enlightenment
Cabot writes of an amazing society of vampires that are believable, interesting characters with history, individually and collectively, that invites reconsideration of how things seem to be in remarkable lives. The Noantri's interactions with humans in various sectors, including religion, brings new insights into what it means to understand "others" that we might dismiss as "the Other"--and even invites new views of history.
In the sequel, Skin of the Wolf, Cabot's vampires and humans encounter new mysteries of identity in a fast-paced read on the wild side that again draws on and reinterprets history and gives us new views of the present day. Set in New York City, the story opens with a high-profile auction of a rare Native American mask of mysterious origins and meaning.
Its sale quickly spawns not only the dealings of possibly "shifty" people, but of beings who shift their shapes into Noantri and human characters interact with those who have complicated, hidden identities. Cabot's writing is highly descriptive and engaging, with memorable, well developed characters that were believable to me, whatever their identities as human, vampire, or werewolf. This story ends in a way that is about as close to a guaranteed sequel as it gets no spoiler here, but just be prepared for the unexpected.
While most readers would probably find Skin of the Wolf accessible without reading Blood of the Lamb, I recommend both books. I can't speak to how these books compare to other contemporary vampire stories, but I can speak to the strength and originality of Cabot's writing.
They are entertaining reads, but they also deftly challenge the imagination: what is paranormal, and what is the weird side of life as we assume it to be? These questions best come alive in stories, and Skin of the Wolf is one that stretches reality into something wildly imaginative and powerful. Apr 20, Yvette rated it really liked it Shelves: mystery , fantasy , kindle-ebooks , vampires , werewolves-shapeshifters , mythology. On the night before the bidding, a werewolf sneaks inside to steal it, only to leave the murdered body of a museum assistant who had the grave misfortune of discovering the intruder.
While police investigate the murder, the hunt for the real mask is set in motion by those who either want to possess it for its power or others who want to prevent that power from being unleashed. Yet, despite being twins and possessing the same ability, Edward and Michael are different in most everything except for their love for their people.
The authors Carlos Dews and S. Rozan who write under the pseudonym of Sam Cabot, alternate the narrator from character-to-character in an effort to afford the reader a variety of perspectives.

Moreover, we are introduced to the eternally changed Noantri or vampires, art historian Livia Pietro and aristocrat Spencer George. Together the Noantri with Shifter Michael Bonnard, a scientist tracking the Shifter gene under the guise of small pox research, join forces to attempt to prevent Edward, from obtaining the real mask. This thriller was also an unconventional love story between werewolf Shifter Michael Bonnard and Noantri vampire Spencer George.

At times, the story was slow going and dragged a bit, but once connections started being made and the truth finally comes out, the story really shines. I enjoyed it.
It was a nice blend of history, science, and mystery all combined in one interesting story. I would recommend it to those who like solving mysteries. Aug 30, Kathy Martin rated it it was amazing. Livia is excited to be allowed to view a very rare and ancient Iroquois mask of a wolf at Sotheby's as it is getting ready to go to auction. However, her Noantri skills lead her to believe that the mask is a fake. When a young woman who is getting the artifacts ready is brutally murdered by what looks like and animal attack and Spencer and his new boyfriend Dr. Michael Bonnard are attacked by a wolf in Central Park, things get more and more complicated.
Michael and his brother Edward are twins and Mohawk Indians. They have gone their separate ways, though, with Michael taking the path of science and becoming a researcher and Edward following his Indian roots and beliefs. Both are also shapeshifters. Michael has been using science to try to understand why shapeshifting occurs and trying to identify others who might possess the gene.
Edward is more interested in recreating the ceremony that made them shifters and making new shifters wholesale so that they can throw the white men off the continent. All parties are in a mad dash to try to find the real Iroquois wolf mask, though each has a different agenda. Michael fears that Edward's plan will set up Indian people for persecution whether or not they have the shifting gene.
