It's not so easy to break free of your assigned place in the family, whether you're grandpa's little girl -- and chief cook and housemaid, or the youngest and by far the most clever and well-educated in a long line of Morton males.

Thanks to a huge prank that backfires big time, Daisy and Bobbyjay, who have known each other since they were children, end up engaged -- or Bobbyjay may just end up dead. Daisy has never really thought of Bobbyjay as anything other than a childhood friend who now gets cross-eyed at how his friend has matured, where Bobbyjay has always thought she was a darling, but would never have taken his life in his hands by trying to date the granddaughter of his uncle's mortal enemy.
Turns out they don't know jack about each other -- and the discoveries are both hilarious and thoughtful. Each step digs them in deeper, as they scheme about how to break off their engagement, even as they both privately wonder if they really want to call things off. But family tensions are leading to some ugly scenes and genuine danger. Can true love triumph? Or will Bobbyjay sink from the anchor of his father and brothers? Will Daisy break free of her assigned place in her family?
This is a fun, fast read -- I look forward to the next one! Ebook readers, head for www. And it is also available in. PDF format, so an Adobe Reader will also work! I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review. I haven't read any of Jennifer Stevenson's work until picking up a copy of her romantic comedy Fool's Paradise.
Romantic comedies as a genre are tricky business in my opinion.

It's much easier to listen to the whiney dialogue of a character on the big screen then having to read the same dialogue on the printed page. Too much whiney dialogue - which is funny to a viewer of the big screen - I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review. Too much whiney dialogue - which is funny to a viewer of the big screen - doesn't always come off successful in a book. I really wasn't a huge fan of Stevenson's heroine, Daisy Ditorelli, for this very reason. There is only so much eye rolling I can take while reading. With all the unkind stereotypical generalizations tossed into the pages of the book I found myself laughing less and rubbing my eyes more frequently.
Another sticking point for me was the sexual conflict surrounding Daisy, her grandfather Marty and his friend Badger and Tony's almost constant pawing of Daisy. Complete turn-off to me that doesn't seem to fit in a romantic comedy genre. I didn't really enjoy the book and struggled to keep reading. I wouldn't recommend the book to my friends. Sorry, no stars. Nov 25, Melissa rated it it was amazing Shelves: review-books. Oh man this was so funny I loved the quirky fun loving read with some intense hot yummy scenes.
This book is about bobbyjay and daisy who's families have fought with each other for 35 years. This fighting brings bobbyjay and daisy together in a very good way as they try to work together to stop the fighting.

Fools of paradise was a great story, I read book two in the stagehand series "king of hearts" first before this book as I was chosen to review it and I loved it so much I needed more. I have been totally recommending fools of paradise to friends as I couldn't stop laughing. A great romantic comedy that is for sure.
